The 1st Board Certified Master Arborist in Southern Oregon since 2011

This credential recognizes ISA Certified Arborists® who have reached the pinnacle of their profession. In addition to passing an extensive scenario-based exam, candidates must abide by a Code of Ethics, which ensures quality of work. Fewer than two percent of all ISA Certified Arborists® currently hold this certification.”

Willie Gingg has worked around trees his entire life. Growing up on an apple orchard, he developed an early respect for hard work and land stewardship. At 17, Willie began logging and later spent several years in Alaska's fishing and logging industries before transitioning into arboriculture at age 25.
Today, Willie is Southern Oregon’s longest-tenured Board Certified Master Arborist (BCMA), Qualified Tree Risk Assessor and holds many other licenses and certifications. With decades of hands-on experience, he brings a practical, real-world approach to tree care, combining industry-leading knowledge with a commitment to doing what is right for the tree, property, and client.
For Willie, it comes down to one simple philosophy: TREE WORK DONE RIGHT.
Heather Detwiler
Heather joined Southern Oregon Tree Care in December 2021 and quickly became the driving force behind the company’s day-to-day operations. As the Office Manager, she independently oversees scheduling, client communication, administrative operations, marketing, coordination, and the many moving parts that keep the company running efficiently behind the scenes.
With a lifelong background in customer service, Heather takes pride in creating a positive experience for every client—from the first phone call to the completion of a project. She enjoys building relationships with customers and appreciates that no two days in the tree industry are ever the same.
Her organization, adaptability, and commitment to the company’s values help support Southern Oregon Tree Care’s mission of delivering “Tree Work Done Right.”
TJ Nelson
TJ is an ISA Certified Arborist and crew leader who brings skill, hard work, and a positive attitude to every job. Specializing in tree trimming, removals, and safe climbing operations, he leads his crew with a commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.
Tree work is more than a job for TJ —it's a craft that requires planning, precision, and respect for the work. Whether tackling hazardous removals or pruning trees to improve health, structure and appearance, he believes in doing the job right while keeping the process professional and enjoyable for both crew and clients.
Hunter Dixon
Hunter Dixon is an ISA Certified Arborist and a Plant Health Care Specialist from Southern Oregon with a passion for tree care, plant health, and landscape improvement. As a licensed pesticide applicator Hunter is experienced in diagnosing plant issues, and working closely with clients to protect and improve the health of their trees and landscapes using practical, effective solutions.
Upper Limb-It acquisition
Continuing a Legacy of Exceptional Tree Care in Jackson County
Southern Oregon Tree Care is proud to announce the acquisition of Beaver Tree Service’s local phone numbers, client relationships, and the Southern Oregon operations of Upper Limb-It Tree Service.
As Beaver Tree Service has elected to focus its operations in the Portland Metro area, this transition ensures that the clients and properties served throughout Southern Oregon will continue receiving the professional tree care they have trusted for decades.
This transition is especially meaningful to me personally. Long before founding Southern Oregon Tree Care, I had the privilege of working for Beaver Tree Service. I was also fortunate to call its founder, Clarence, a close friend. Both Beaver Tree Service and Upper Limb-It earned outstanding reputations through decades of honest work, highly skilled crews, and strong relationships with their clients and communities.
Recently, I spoke with Clarence’s son, a friend and second-generation owner of Beaver Tree Service. He shared that his father would be pleased with this transition and gratified to know that the legacy he built will continue through Southern Oregon Tree Care.
For more than 20 years, Southern Oregon Tree Care has proudly served the Rogue Valley with the same values that guided Beaver Tree Service and Upper Limb-It—integrity, professionalism, safety, and exceptional workmanship. This next chapter allows us to continue caring for the clients and properties that have relied on Upper Limb-It for years while maintaining the highest standards in arboriculture.
